Iconic Lazio striker Ciro Immobile is being linked with a sensational return to Italy, with Inter Milan named as a potential suitor.
The 35-year-old spent eight unforgettable years at the Italian capital side, cementing himself as the club’s all-time goalscorer with 207 strikes in his 340 appearances across all competitions. The Euro 2020 winner bid the Aquile farewell last summer, joining Besiktas on a two-year deal. He has thus far scored 15 goals in his 33 outings for the Istanbul-based giants.
However, Fanatik claims Immobile could cut his time in Turkiye short, as he seeks a return to Serie A next summer. The source claims the player’s agent is already looking around for a new club, while Inter could reignite their old interest in the striker.
It should be noted that the veteran has been linked with a transfer to the Italian champions on several occasions, especially following Simone Inzaghi’s move from Lazio to Inter in the summer of 2021.
The Nerazzurri already have a splendid attacking partnership in the form of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, but Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa are expected to depart, while Mehdi Taremi’s future remains uncertain following an unerwhelming first season at Appiano Gentile.
At this stage of the season, there could be more speculations than facts, but Immobile’s fate could be worth keeping an eye on.
