Lazio ‘submit’ opening bid for Fluminense striker John Kennedy | OneFootball

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Lazio have submitted an opening €eight million bid for Fluminense striker John Kennedy, which was rejected, with the Brazilian club seeking €12 million. There remains a significant gap between the valuations.

Lazio’s push for a No nine follows last season’s blunt attack, just 41 goals in 38 Serie A matches and no player beyond five across all competitions. Gennaro Gattuso has also prioritised defensive cover after Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli left.

Kennedy, 23, is a Brazilian centre-forward who operates mainly as a No nine despite standing 173 cm. He has 14 goals and two assists in 35 outings this season across all competitions.

With his deal expiring in December 2027, less than 18 months away, Lazio hope the fee could be negotiated down.

Recent windows offer a warning. Lazio failed to land Jonathan Asp Jensen, who was sold by Bayern Munich to Deportivo La Coruña after a richer proposal, and they risk a repeat with Sergi Dominguez while Dinamo Zagreb hold for €15 million.
