Lazio are reportedly open to selling their captain, Mattia Zaccagni, in the summer if they receive an appropriate offer.
In recent days, a French report claimed that Olympique Marseille are pondering a summer move for the Italian winger, and could launch an offer in the region of €15 million. The Velodrome would become an even more enticing destination for the player if the club succeeds in qualifying for the Champions League next season.
According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Biancocelesti are willing to entertain offers for Zaccagni, who hasn’t been able to perform at his best level this season. The 30-year-old has been plagued by several injuries this term, which derailed his momentum. He has only contributed with four goals and one assist in 26 appearances in all competitions
Although the skipper’s departure would leave a major void on the flanks, Lazio will find it difficult to resist financially lucrative offers at this stage.
In addition to Marseille, Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Marchetti (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) revealed that Napoli have never lost track of Zaccagni, who has been on their shortlist for several years. However, the Italian’s chances of moving to the Stadio Maradona have diminished due to Alisson Santos’ sensational start to life in Naples following his January transfer from Benfica.
Napoli have been considering Zaccagni; he was in Giovanni Manna’s sights as part of his extensive casting call for a left winger. The conditions were never right to satisfy Lazio, but the player would have absolutely loved the destination. He likes Napoli 100%. Today, he may remain an option, albeit a relatively less so, because with Alisson, Napoli are well-covered on that side.
Zaccagni has been playing his football at Lazio since making the move from Hellas Verona in the summer of 2021. He is tied to the club with a contract running until June 2029
