Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris says midfielder Enzo Le Fee is not expected to be out for long after missing his side’s goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

Le Fee was a surprise absentee from the squad to face Palace but Le Bris says he does not think his injury is a serious one.

“It doesn’t seem too serious, but we’ll see,” Le Bris said.

“He’s an important player for us because we can combine the winger position with a number 10’s ability, and I think to generate a bit more unpredictability in our game.

“It would have been really interesting to play with him, but it wasn’t an option today. It isn’t too bad.”

Sunderland were also without several other key players for the draw, including Dan Ballard, Dennis Cirkin, Aji Alese, Luke O’Nien, Leo Hjelde and Romain Mundle.

Le Bris said ahead of the game that he hoped to have Ballard and O’Nien back for their next Premier League game against Aston Villa, however.

The Black Cats boss also praised goalkeeper Robin Roefs for his performance in helping to keep a clean sheet against Palace.

“He is a really good goalkeeper,” he said. “We need good players in the squad to be efficient and he had a good game today.”
