On Saturday at 16:00 Italian time, Sunderland will play Sheffield United, the play-off final of the English Championship which is worth a place in the Premier League.

The outcome of the match will determine whether Sunderland will trigger the obligation (worth 23mln) in the midfielder’s contract or not.

In an interview with The Times, the Frenchman discussed his situation in England.

“Ranieri wanted a physically strong team to move away from the relegation zone. As a result I played less with him.”

“I want to play for Sunderland next year too, for sure. I want to stay in England,” he added.

“I have been working towards this for the last six months and now there is the final, the most important game of my life.”
