League fixtures: Sporting now know when they face Porto and Benfica

Sporting already know the schedule for the 2026/27 Liga Portugal season. The draw held this Thursday determined that Rui Borges’ side will begin their title defence away to Estrela da Amadora on the weekend of August 8 and 9, before playing their first two home matches against Vitória de Guimarães and Alverca.

After their opening match away from home, the Lions host Vitória de Guimarães in the second round and then play again at Alvalade in the following round against Alverca. This will be followed by a trip to Rio Ave and a home game against Nacional, completing the first five rounds of the competition.

As for the big matches, the first Clássico is scheduled for the 12th round, when Sporting visit Porto at the Estádio do Dragão. The derby against Benfica will be played in the 16th round at the Estádio da Luz, virtually bringing the first half of the league season to a close.

In the second half of the season, the Lions host Porto in the 29th round, while the derby against Benfica is scheduled for the 33rd and penultimate round of the Liga. The match against the Eagles will also be Sporting’s final home game of the season and could prove decisive in the title race. The Lions end the campaign away to Santa Clara.
