Leao admits he supported Milan before joining with goal in mind: “Let’s hope so” | OneFootball

AC Milan are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the supporter base stretches across the globe. It also exists within the dressing room, which only helps.

There is something special about a fan playing for the club they love. From both a fan and neutral perspective. Naturally, a player who loves the club will, perhaps, put a little more in for the badge, but there will also be a pre-existing relationship with the supporters.

Take Francesco Camarda for example, the young striker who is already written into the future cloth of Milan. He is admired due to his talent, but the fact he is a Rossonero only adds further to the jubilation about his future. A Milanista potentially leading the club forward, the stuff of dreams for the player, and the fans.

It goes past Camarda though, and having one of the best players in the world supporting the club is a boost, especially when he plays for the club, and that is the case for Leao, as he admitted today.

“When I arrived here I was already a fan of Milan, the team where many important players I admired as a child have passed through. I immediately understood the passion of the fans and what it meant to wear this shirt, which has a special weight.

“I thought I wanted to stay here for years and win trophies. Now I just have to thank those who brought me to Milan, those who helped me improve and grow as a player and as a person every day.”

With his performance against Juventus being reminiscent of the ‘old’ Leao, we can only hope that he continues to improve, and these hopes have an extra chance due to Sergio Conceicao’s mission.
