AC Milan came back to win 2-1 against Genoa last night, and there are a few stats to take note of from the game.

It looked like it was going to be one of those nights for Milan at one point, with Genoa getting themselves ahead in the 61st minute but it was not to be as the Rossoneri scored twice in just 90 seconds to turn the game on its head 15 minutes from time.

Going into the games against Bologna, there is a lot of confidence around this team, and the Diavolo are picking up some huge results on a consistent basis now, probably deepening Sergio Conceicao’s feeling of regret.

Nevertheless, let’s take a dive into the key stats from this game.

Diavolo dominance

Despite the scoreline not really telling the same story, Milan were actually quite dominant here, and were decent value for the win. Firstly, they won the big stat, the scoreline, which was deserved, even if not by much.

The Rossoneri were more effective, having 50% of their shots on target, whilst the hosts could only manage less than 33%. Furthermore, none of their 11 shots were ‘big chances’, not even their goal, while Milan score twice from two big chances – efficiency.

That being said, the Diavolo were rather aggressive and picked up five yellow cards from the game, which is certainly not ideal.

Leao on fire

In Milan’s stat pack after the game, it states that Rafael Leao has scored three goals and gotten two assists in his past six appearances away from San Siro – form that we want to see replicated at home, definitely.

Furthermore, he is now just one of three players with eight goals and assists this season, matching only Christian Pulisic who has 10/8 and Romelu Lukaku 12/10. A lot has been said about his year, but he is still proving to be effective.

Comeback kings

This season, the Rossoneri have gotten quite a knack for making comebacks, something which is nice on occasion, but not as a regularity. However, credit where its due, the team are finding themselves on the right side of results more often than anyone else.

In fact, Milan have won 19 points from losing positions now this season – with the win on Monday being the latest three – no other team has claimed the same amount, showing that, as frustrating as they may be, they are a solid team.

Now, it has to be a case of collecting the most points full stop, rather than from losing positions, please.
