Leeds United have reached a verbal agreement with Brighton to sell centre-back Pascal Struijk this summer. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the agreement is in principle while the clubs finalise details.
Struijk, 26, is out of contract next year. The fee is undisclosed, but is understood to be about £20m for a defender who has made 196 appearances since arriving from Ajax in January 2018, initially with the under-21s.
It is believed Leeds offered fresh terms, but Struijk sought a new challenge, and there was a risk he could have left on a free next summer.
Brighton sold Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham earlier this month for £52m, while Adam Webster is departing at the end of his deal. They also took Georginio Rutter from Leeds in August 2024 and will play in Europe next season after an eighth-placed finish secured the Europa Conference League.
Leeds are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League and last week reached an agreement to sign Fulham attacker Harry Wilson as a free agent after his contract expired.
That move remains on track, with Wilson needing to complete a medical and paperwork before sealing the switch to Elland Road.
Leeds are also pursuing Germany midfielder Julian Brandt, who is a free agent as his Borussia Dortmund contract expires, and remain in talks over Southampton’s Shea Charles.
