Leeds will honour legendary forward Mick Jones at half-time on Saturday night when Brentford visit Elland Road, and have asked supporters to remain in their seats.

The club said in a statement that Jones will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award and become the first former player to be given a Leeds United Heritage Cap, with the ceremony on the pitch at half-time of the Premier League fixture, alongside his family.

A stalwart of Don Revie’s side, Jones struck the winner in the 1968 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup final, the club’s first major European trophy.

He helped Leeds lift league titles in 1968/69 and 1973/74, finishing as top scorer in both campaigns. His honours also include the 1969 Charity Shield, a second Fairs Cup in 1971, and the 1972 FA Cup, when he set up Allan Clarke’s decisive goal.

Between 1967 and 1975 he made 312 appearances for Leeds, scoring 111 goals, and earned three England caps.

The presentation forms part of Marching on Forever, the former players association established in late 2025 to recognise ex-players and issue specially made Heritage Caps. Leeds had announced the initiative in December, with Tony Dorigo leading its formation.
