Leeds United are reportedly considering sacking manager Daniel Farke despite the club’s promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds’ return to the Premier League was confirmed at the weekend, after Sheffield United lost at Burnley. Farke has guided Leeds back into the Premier League at the second attempt, following defeat in last season’s Championship play-off final.

The German has led Leeds to promotion despite a mass exodus of top talent last summer. Leeds lost key figures including Georginio Rutter, Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville to Premier League teams.

Farke’s promotion is his third from the second tier, having twice previously led Norwich City into the Premier League. However, talkSPORT are reporting that the ownership at Elland Road have reservations over his ability to handle the step into the top flight.

Farke has won just six of his previous 49 games in the Premier League, with Norwich relegated on both occasions. He was sacked in the second of those top-flight campaigns after a 21-game winless run.

The board will now consider change, amid concerns over the growing gap between the Championship and Premier League. Last season, all three promoted teams were relegated for the first time since 1998.

It is a situation set to be repeated in 2024/25, with Southampton and Leicester already relegated and Ipswich Town almost certain to join them. The latter need maximum points from their final five games, with West Ham losing all five of their fixtures and a goal difference swing of 20.
