Leeds United’s Premier League season ended meekly with a 3-0 loss at relegated West Ham United.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke called it a 'game too far' without key players, despite returns for Pascal Struijk and Jayden Bogle.
Jaka Bijol was Leeds’ best performer, resolute in his box, and it was still 1-0 when he went off.
The travelling support kept a party mood, taunting the hosts with chants naming West Ham’s 2026/27 opponents, then saluting the team at full-time.
A win could have lifted Leeds to 12th and extended their unbeaten run, but 14th remains a creditable finish. Farke and captain Ethan Ampadu had wanted a stronger finale.
Brenden Aaronson struggled, twice opting poorly and shooting tamely, and lost a 50:50 shoulder with the similarly sized Crysencio Summerville. Joe Rodon failed to jump as a corner went in, a rare lapse this season.
Pre-match, Darren Emmerson DJed the warm-up and a memorial montage drew applause, capped by Billy Bonds’ image. Ampadu hugged and chatted with referee Anthony Taylor, then later protested a call and suggested Callum Wilson was blocking his run-up for a long throw.
After treatment following a collision, Ampadu checked on Summerville before they returned. Home fans turned on the board after each of the first two goals, Dominic Calvert-Lewin consoled a downcast Jayden Bogle, and post-game Pascal Struijk made a beeline for Summerville for a consoling arm as young supporters sang 'no VAR'.
