According to Sky Sports, Leeds United’s former relegation rivals Wolves have sacked manager Rob Edwards following their drop to the Championship in a surprise U-turn. Cesar Peixoto, currently head coach of Portuguese side Gil Vicente, is expected to take over.

Edwards left Championship promotion-chasers Middlesbrough to take the Molineux job last November. The 43-year-old sparked an upturn after a dreadful start to the campaign.

Despite signs of improvement, Wolves looked destined for the drop from some way out and were relegated with five games remaining.

Edwards had appeared set to lead a bid for an immediate return at the first attempt, making the decision a clear change of course.

His stint in charge lasted seven months.
