Leeds United expect the timing of some summer transfer business to be affected and have dismissed a reported move for Hidemasa Morita.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Leeds are not pursuing the Japan international and have not looked at him, with club sources calling the links 'nonsense'.
The 30-year-old is nearing the end of his Sporting contract after 163 appearances, including Champions League and Europa League outings. Reports elsewhere had suggested advanced talks or a deal close to completion, but his age and profile do not fit what Leeds want.
The recruitment team are drawing up lists and profiling potential targets, yet talk of completed deals should be treated with caution for now. Three Premier League matches remain and top flight status is not yet mathematically secured.
The window opens in five weeks and may drag on because of the World Cup, so many deals, not only at Leeds, are likely to be finalised after the tournament.
