Leeds United have confirmed goalkeeper Karl Darlow has left after rejecting a new Elland Road deal, instead joining Manchester United as back-up.
Leeds praised Darlow as an exemplary professional who also committed time to community work. He departs having made 38 appearances.
Signed ahead of 2023/24, he debuted in a League Cup win over Shrewsbury Town. He then starred in the final seven Championship fixtures the following season, with six victories and the trophy lifted at Plymouth Argyle on the last day.
In that same term he made his Wales debut in a 2-1 away win over Montenegro, and he now has 15 caps as Cymru’s number one. With Leeds back in the top flight he featured 22 times and took April’s Save of the Month for a point-blank stop to deny Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ladislav Krejci.
Leeds plan to recruit another goalkeeper. With Illan Meslier joining Arsenal and Darlow gone, Daniel Farke’s options are Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns, while Perri has been linked with Torino and the club hold interest in James Trafford and Zion Suzuki.
