Leeds United have signed Tarik Muharemović from Sassuolo on a five-year contract. The centre-back has been lined up to take Pascal Struijk’s place after his move to Brighton.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the 23-year-old flew into Leeds on Thursday to finalise his medical and paperwork, with the package worth £34m all in.
Muharemović impressed across the 2025/26 Serie A campaign as Sassuolo finished 11th. He featured for Bosnia and Herzegovina at this summer’s World Cup.
The former Wolfsberger AC and Juventus defender first joined Sassuolo on loan in August 2024 and scored in his second game as the Neroverdi won Serie B and secured promotion. After 30 outings that season his move became permanent, followed by 33 appearances last term in all competitions.
Capped 17 times at senior level, he has played in the UEFA Nations League, World Cup qualifiers and play-offs, then the finals this year. He stands at six foot four.
He becomes their second permanent addition of the window after Harry Wilson. Leeds are also in the race for Manchester City and England keeper James Trafford. They have held talks with the representatives of German free agent Julian Brandt this week and retain hope of an agreement with Southampton for Shea Charles.
