Preparatory work for Elland Road’s redevelopment will see a prominent club mural moved and repainted.

The club said in a statement that artist Nicolas Dixon has been recommissioned to repaint the mural entirely, with work on a new security hub to begin from Wednesday 25 March. It also thanked the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust for their cooperation and support.

Plans for a new West Stand were granted planning permission in January, and as part of those proposals the 2022 mural must be relocated and repainted.

Sited at the north east corner, the artwork marks the 1972 FA Cup win and depicts manager Don Revie, trainer and coach Les Cocker and a host of players.

Dixon was originally commissioned by the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust to hand paint an abstract design using portraits created by fellow artist Paul Trevillion.

The wall hosting the mural will become the club’s new security hub, with the current hub to be knocked down. The requirement for outward kiosk windows means the piece cannot remain in place.
