Barcelona’s transfer activity is no longer focused solely on arrivals.

As expected, the Catalan club is also working to reduce the size of Hansi Flick’s squad before the end of the month, with several players expected to head for the exit door, which includes a certain Roony Bardghji

The Swedish talent, who joined Barcelona only last summer, is already being linked with a temporary move away after struggling for regular opportunities during his first season at the club.

Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, Premier League newcomers Leeds United are among the clubs monitoring the situation in the wake of Barcelona’s evaluation of the winger’s immediate future.

Barcelona expected to sanction Bardghji loan

Barcelona are aiming to complete a number of departures before the June 30 financial deadline, as outgoing transfers would improve the club’s accounts ahead of the end of the financial year.

The process has already begun with Inaki Pena completing his €3 million transfer to Panathinaikos, and more exits are expected to follow in the coming weeks.

Bardghji is one of the players whose future remains under discussion. Barcelona signed the 20-year-old from Copenhagen for €2.5 million and tied him down to a contract until 2029, making it clear they still view him as a long-term investment.

However, his first campaign in Catalonia did not unfold as hoped, with the winger managing just 871 minutes across 28 official appearances, finding himself behind Lamine Yamal in the pecking order.

With first-team opportunities expected to remain limited, Barcelona believe a loan spell would be the best solution to accelerate his development while keeping him within the club’s long-term plans.

Leeds United keeping close watch

The aforementioned outlet reports that Leeds United have expressed interest in bringing Bardghji to the Premier League, where he could receive the regular minutes he has struggled to find at Barcelona.

Despite that interest, though, the Catalan club have yet to receive a formal proposal involving a transfer fee or a loan agreement.

This means that at this stage, discussions have not progressed beyond initial interest.

Barcelona have no intention of giving up on Bardghji after just one season.

The club continue to rate his potential highly, but they also recognise the challenge of earning regular minutes in a squad that already features one of world football’s brightest young stars in Lamine Yamal.

Hence, a competitive loan move would allow Bardghji to gain valuable first-team experience while preserving Barcelona’s long-term investment.
