Leeds could have a fresh chance to move for El Chadaille Bitshiabu as the winter window nears, with the defender targeting an exit from RB Leipzig.

Fabrizio Romano claims Premier League clubs have enquired about the centre-back’s situation, hinting Leeds might be among them after their 2023 pursuit.

Intermediaries are in talks with Leeds over Ruben Vargas as the Switzerland international prepares to leave Sevilla.

For the 49ers, it represents another opening after Leeds missed out to Leipzig in 2023.

Daniel Farke could use a young central defender for long-term depth, with Jaka Bijol now part of a back three alongside Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.

That picture may also deter Bitshiabu, who has struggled for minutes in Leipzig and appears keen to start regularly.

A summer approach could make more sense, as Sebastiaan Bornauw is already available as cover and has played just two minutes in the Premier League this season.

Spending now might be unnecessary, though a deal in the summer is worth revisiting if he does not find a new club this winter.
