Daniel Farke faces an important week on the fitness front after Leeds United progressed from Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round at Birmingham City. Assessments are ongoing for key players ahead of Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa.

According to Leeds Live, defenders Gabriel Gudmundsson and James Justin each played 120 minutes and there were not thought to be any injury concerns.

Noah Okafor was withdrawn late in normal time after a sprint, holding the back of his leg in what appeared to be a hamstring problem. Farke offered no full update, saying it was too early and the winger would be assessed.

Daniel James was left out shortly before kick-off with a back issue, the decision described as precautionary. He did not feel comfortable in his movements and was unable to sprint.

Anton Stach missed the Birmingham tie with a hip flexor complaint, with the Villa trip long earmarked as a possible return. He has featured only three times since the 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United on 7 January and also sat out the win over Fulham with a muscle problem.

Pascal Struijk, also nursing a hip flexor issue, was deemed too great a risk and ruled out on Friday. Justin has recently covered at right-centre back and logged 120 minutes, while Struijk had started every Premier League match since 23 November before his setback.

All four have a potential return date of 21 February against Aston Villa, subject to final checks.
