Wolves are facing intense interest in a number of players following their relegation to the Championship
Wolves have officially suffered relegation from the Premier League after a disastrous campaign.
The Midlands outfit earned just two points from their opening 18 fixtures in the league, which put them well behind their rivals.
Rob Edwards arrived as manager in November, and he has been unable to turn things around enough to maintain the club’s top flight status.
There are still five Premier League games remaining for Wolves, but their attention will now turn to the summer and preparing for life in the Championship.
The club earned promotion in 2018, with this relegation ending an eight season run in the division.
Edwards will be hoping to ensure it is just a one year absence, with their sights set on earning promotion again in 2027.
It has been reported by Teamtalk that Leeds United have made an enquiry regarding a potential deal for Ladislav Krejci.
The defender joined Wolves last summer on loan from Girona with a £23 million buy clause that is set to be triggered.
However, it’s understood that his contract includes a relegation release clause, which will open the door to his exit from Molineux.
Leeds face competition from Brighton in the race to sign the Czechia international, with the 27-year-old also capable of playing in midfield.
And the Whites have also made enquiries regarding the futures of Joao Gomes, Matheus Mane and Andre, with intense interest expected in all three this summer.
It was a 3-0 win by Leeds last weekend against Edwards’ side that set in motion Wolves’ official relegation, with a 0-0 draw by West Ham against Crystal Palace on Monday confirming their place in the bottom three.
It is set to be a busy summer for the Midlands outfit, with a number of first team players potentially set to leave.
While Leeds’ focus is on bringing in Krejci, who they see as a strong tactical fit for Daniel Farke’s back-three system, the other trio are also of interest.
The Yorkshire outfit are likely to maintain their place in the Premier League, with the team now eight points clear of 18th place Tottenham Hotspur with just five games to play.
Next up for Wolves is a home clash against Spurs on 25 April in a 3pm kick-off at Molineux.
Krejci could be a natural fit for Leeds as he will be suited to playing in a back three, and his capacity to move into midfield will also make him a valuable asset.
Given the nature of a relegation release clause, it’s also a deal that the Whites can get done relatively smoothly and swiftly, provided they’re willing to meet the figure needed.
It will come as no surprise for Wolves that their players are attracting interest, particularly the likes of Krejci, Joao Gomes and Mane.
Leeds will face competition for any of these signings, as other Premier League clubs will be circling, but the Czechia international has the potential to be a smart move to bolster their backline for a second season in the top flight.
