Anton Stach has been named in Troy Deeney’s Premier League Team of the Week for BBC Sport after his display at Aston Villa, alongside Van Dijk & Eze. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Leeds United midfielder stood out.

Stach put Leeds ahead in the 31st minute with a long-range free-kick that beat Emiliano Martinez at his near post. He also created two chances and made six recoveries, plus defensive actions including one block and two interceptions.

Leeds could not see it out, with Tammy Abraham equalising in the 88th minute for the hosts. Stach’s contribution still drew plaudits.

Deeney felt Leeds might falter and warned they must be careful with draws, yet he hailed Stach’s display at Villa and said the free-kick past a World Cup-winning goalkeeper earned him selection. He also placed him alongside Eberechi Eze and Virgil van Dijk.

Leeds have lost only two of their last 14 Premier League matches and are six points clear of the relegation zone with 11 games left.

Daniel Farke’s side host Manchester City on Saturday, then Norwich City in the FA Cup before Sunderland in the league. March ends with Crystal Palace away and Brentford at home. If Leeds keep picking up points through that run, they will almost certainly secure their top-flight place for 2026/27.
