Leeds United were dealt a fresh concern when Anton Stach was forced off injured in the first half of Sunday’s FA Cup tie at West Ham.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Stach had been a pre-match doubt after reporting a hip problem in training, and he featured sparingly for Germany over the past fortnight.

Leeds led at the time, with Ao Tanaka finishing a slick move via a deflection on 26 minutes in London.

Late in the half, Stach burst through on a counter from Noah Okafor’s pass and saw his shot saved by Alphonse Areola. As Max Kilman tried to block, he went through the midfielder and Stach’s right ankle appeared to roll, prompting treatment on the pitch and a hobble around the perimeter.

He briefly attempted to continue, but Brenden Aaronson was already being readied and came on moments later.

Before the injury, Stach had been influential in a dominant Leeds midfield, winning duels and progressing play. Leeds were also without Gabriel Gudmundsson and Daniel James, with James expected to miss a couple of weeks due to an adductor strain and Gudmundsson not risked because of a minor groin issue.
