Leeds begin their United States pre-season on July 25 against Wrexham in Tampa, and selection could be shaped by post-World Cup absences and a possible first outing for Harry Wilson.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, matches with Sunderland and Liverpool are also scheduled, Wilson’s signing is expected shortly and goalkeeper Alex Cairns is set to extend his stay.

Daniel Farke might be without Gabriel Gudmundsson, Ao Tanaka, Brenden Aaronson and Noah Okafor if they take leave after the tournament.

In goal, Lucas Perri is currently the only senior option under contract, unless a deal can be struck with Karl Darlow, with Cairns behind the Brazilian.

Wrexham could face a strong Welsh contingent, with Joe Rodon returning after an excellent 2025/26 as he enters his fourth year at Leeds.

Sebastiaan Bornauw, not in Belgium’s World Cup squad that reached the quarter-finals, has recently been on holiday in Thailand and could stake a claim at centre-back.

Jaka Bijol might start on the left of a back three, covering the gap left by £20m Brighton-bound Pascal Struijk, with no left-footed centre-back available and Bijol the most comfortable there.

On the right, Jayden Bogle, virtually ever-present last season, could resume at wing-back, and England’s right-back issues have kept his name in the conversation.
