Leeds United will end their 39-year wait for an FA Cup semi-final when they walk out at Wembley on Sunday to face Chelsea, with the winner due back in May for a shot at silverware. yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk looks back at how they got there.
11/01/2026, Derby County 1-3 Leeds United. Joel Piroe missed a penalty before Ben Brereton Diaz put Derby ahead, but Willy Gnonto and Ao Tanaka struck by the hour and James Justin added a first Leeds goal in added time.
15/02/2026, Birmingham City 1-1 Leeds United, Leeds won 4-2 on penalties. Lukas Nmecha hammered in early in the second half, Patrick Roberts’ heavily deflected 89th-minute leveller forced extra time, then Piroe, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Brenden Aaronson and Sean Longstaff scored as Lucas Perri saved from Tommy Doyle and Roberts blazed over.
08/03/2026, Leeds United 3-0 Norwich City. With Daniel Farke watching from the stands after a red card, Sean Longstaff swivelled and volleyed, Gabriel Gudmundsson netted before the break and Piroe curled in late on.
05/04/2026, West Ham 2-2 Leeds United, Leeds won 4-2 on penalties. Ao Tanaka opened the scoring and Calvert-Lewin converted from the spot, before Mateus Fernandes and Axel Disasi levelled during 11 minutes of added time. Extra time brought no breakthrough, then Perri denied Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Felipe, Piroe missed, and Calvert-Lewin, Aaronson, Gnonto and Pascal Struijk sent Leeds through to a first semi-final since 1987.
