Leeds United drew 0-0 with Brentford at Elland Road on Saturday night, a match framed by a powerful tribute to Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, fans gathered outside with family representatives as the anniversary nears, then inside came thunderous applause before kick-off and the customary turning of backs.
Brenden Aaronson struggled, with little he tried coming off in a frustrating spell. The international break may help, or perhaps he needs a breather and Daniel Farke freshens midfield.
Willy Gnonto stayed unused on a night when Leeds mostly crossed into the box. Farke clearly did not view it as his game. He will not join Italy during the break, he remains on the fringes, and while his season could still ignite, time is short.
For the Premier League it was not a good look. Neutrals might have switched off by half-time, with set-pieces and aerial duels dominating. How many more tactical timeouts will be tolerated before the authorities act remains a live question.
Off camera, Brentford formed a huddle before the warm-up and shaped as a back five. Stuart Dallas joined chairman Paraag Marathe pitchside, after Marathe and CEO Robbie Evans had laid wreaths outside the East Stand.
Later, Ampadu complained to referee Jarred Gillett about Kevin Schade, then spoke to the Brentford forward off the ball. Daniel Farke was furious when Aaronson belted a ball downfield, giving his striker no chance.
