Leeds United's Sean Longstaff pays tribute to Kevin Keegan after death aged 75 | OneFootball

Leeds United midfielder Sean Longstaff has paid tribute to Kevin Keegan after the former England captain and manager died aged 75.

His family announced on Monday that he passed away surrounded by his wife and daughters. Keegan had revealed in June that he was battling stage four cancer.

Tributes were shared worldwide for Keegan, a double Ballon d’Or winner in 1978 and 1979. Loved across his former clubs, he is especially revered at Newcastle United, where he both played and later managed.

Longstaff, who joined Leeds from Newcastle last summer, reposted the Magpies’ message on X and hailed Keegan as a legend who had done so much for the club, adding that he would be missed.

Leeds also expressed their sadness and sent condolences to Keegan’s family and friends. Keegan featured in memorable clashes with the Whites during his 1970s Liverpool years, when Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley’s sides often duelled with Don Revie’s Leeds for major honours.

Keegan’s family described him as a much loved husband, father and grandfather, thanked his medical team for their support and requested privacy at a difficult time.
