Leeds will be without Anton Stach for Wednesday’s trip to Bournemouth, though Dan James has rejoined team training. Daniel Farke offered a cautiously positive update on the midfielder’s recovery, indicating the wait should be measured in days rather than weeks.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Farke said everyone available for the Wolves win should be available again, but Stach has not returned to full training. Leeds visit the Cherries on the back of three straight victories, including a first league win at Old Trafford in 45 years.
Stach damaged ankle ligaments in an unpunished challenge during the FA Cup quarter-final at West Ham and has missed league games since. The initial prognosis pointed to a May return, and Farke cannot yet promise he will rejoin team training before the weekend and the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. He has impressed in his first season in English football with four goals and three assists in the league.
Farke said the situation is being assessed day by day. He is pushing for the earliest safe return, but stressed there will be no added pressure and that Stach must be 100 per cent.
Joe Rodon had a similar, less severe ankle issue, missed the Manchester United match, then returned as a substitute against Wolves at Elland Road on Saturday. James, sidelined by an adductor strain for the last three games, is back with the group at Thorp Arch and needs more sessions to regain sharpness.
