According to Patreon, Leicester City are interested in former Oxford United boss Gary Rowett as their search for a new manager continues, although Blackburn Rovers are also keen.

Goal difference currently keeps the Foxes above the Championship relegation zone after a six-point deduction for breaching financial rules, and Saturday's 2-1 defeat to promotion-chasing Birmingham City added to their woes. They are winless in five and have lost three straight.

Rovers are said to have Rowett at the top of their shortlist for the Ewood Park vacancy and plan talks to fend off Leicester's interest. City's pursuit is viewed as a major threat to Blackburn's hopes of appointing him.

Rowett, 51, has also managed Birmingham City, Millwall and Derby County, and is among several experienced options being considered by Leicester. City remain without a permanent successor to the sacked Marti Cifuentes.

Caretaker Andy King has made clear he is only in temporary charge and there is no standout candidate. The away end chanted Nigel Pearson's name during the first half at St Andrew's, the former manager remains popular.

After the defeat, King said the deduction clarified their position and that they have 15 games to stay above the line. He added that recent performances have not been good enough and must improve.
