Football League World takes a look at two Foxes players who may get more opportunities following the sacking of Marti Cifuentes.

Leicester City are looking for their fifth permanent manager since the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, following Marti Cifuentes' dismissal on Sunday.

The Spaniard was sacked by the Foxes following a dismal 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Oxford United on Saturday, with the U's taking a 2-0 lead through Sam Long and Mark Harris at the King Power Stadium, before Abdul Fatawu pulled one back.

The defeat has left the East Midlands outfit just nine points above the bottom three, and after 29 games, the 2015/16 Premier League champions sit 14th in England's second tier.

Nevertheless, sacking Cifuentes will be seen as an opportunity for some of those at the club to prove themselves, and Football League World has picked out two Leicester players who may be relieved to see a change in the dugout.

Harry Winks

Harry Winks is one of the most experienced players in the Foxes' squad, but this season has been one that he would like to forget, with the midfielder falling out of favour with Cifuentes in the final weeks of his tenure at the King Power Stadium.

The 29-year-old has made 17 league appearances for Leicester this season, but he has not featured since a 3-2 defeat to Sheffield United at the end of November.

The former Foxes manager has hinted that the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man could be on his way out of the club in the final week of the transfer window, but with Cifuentes now gone, this may be Winks' opportunity to get minutes on the pitch once again.

However, it must be stated that the player has work to do to rebuild a relationship with supporters, as they will have been disappointed with his attitude, and work must be done quickly to reestablish a connection to those in the stands.

Nevertheless, with Jordan James out injured for the foreseeable future, and Hamza Choudhury potentially needed at full-back with injuries in defence piling up, this could be Winks' opportunity to get himself back out on the pitch. But, it is up to him to show the effort and resolve to win over the new manager's trust.

Louis Page

Another young talent from the academy, Louis Page, has been given more chances to shine than Evans, and he has started to show plenty of promise.

However, Cifuentes would use the 17-year-old sparingly, and he has played just 13 times so far — starting only three of those games. He was given the full 90 minutes against Oxford with Jordan James missing through injury and Oliver Skipp out on medical advice, but it is time for him to be handed that responsibility on a more frequent basis.

Able to play in defensive, central and attacking midfield, Page offers Leicester plenty of versatility, and he will be one to watch in the future. But, in the here and now, there is room for the teenager to make his mark with James out for at least a month.

Twice capped by England U18s, the midfielder is a player who will have many in the Premier League keeping an eye on his developments, and now is the time for the Foxes to give him the platform he needs in his career to succeed.
