Former Championship striker Sam Parkin is of the view that Leicester City midfielder Jordan James has been talismanic for the Foxes and added that he is playing with incredible confidence in a poor side.

Leicester agreed a deal with French side Rennes to sign James on loan in the summer, beating fellow Championship sides Ipswich Town and Wrexham in the race.

The Foxes have been inconsistent this season, but James is having an excellent campaign, as he has netted nine goals with three assists in 24 games so far.

At the weekend, James gave Leicester the lead against table toppers Coventry City, but they failed to capitalise on their advantage as the match ended 2-1 in favour of Frank Lampard’s side.

James impressed Parkin with his performance and he added that the former Birmingham City midfielder has been a talismanic player for Leicester so far this season.

Parkin also thinks that James is a leader and pointed out that the 21-year-old is playing with incredible confidence in what he believes to be a poor side.

“Jordan James has nine goals now”, Parkin said on What The EFL (10:45).

“He is talismanic for them. He looks like such a leader.

“He is playing with incredible confidence, but unfortunately playing with incredible confidence in a poor side.”

The Foxes managed to grab a 1-1 draw at Wrexham, one of the sides who chased James, on Tuesday evening in the Championship.

It was a game which saw James forced off before half time with an injury.

James was long marked out for big things in the game and was chased by Premier League pair Everton and West Ham United in 2022.

The midfielder though did not want to leave Birmingham at the time and stayed on.
