Leicester have signed Manchester City's Christian McFarlane on loan, the 19-year-old left-back becoming their third summer addition.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, he follows Conor Chaplin and Alex McCarthy in strengthening Russell Martin's squad. He boosts left-back options, with Luke Thomas first choice, Woyo Coulibaly used in pre-season and Victor Kristiansen moving to Panathinaikos.

Born in England, McFarlane joined Manchester City in January 2025 from New York City after making 13 appearances in the United States. He became a regular for City's Under-21s, playing 25 times last season with six goals and five assists.

After a brief lay-off, he returned in February to score five in eight with three assists. He also struck in April's 3-1 Premier League play-off win over Arsenal.

The defender said he is excited by the challenge, ready for senior football and sees Leicester as a place to develop mentally and physically. He described his style as intense and aggressive at both ends and feels Russell Martin's approach suits him.

He has represented England at youth level and was in the recent Under-19s squad. He will train with his new team-mates before Friday's open session at the King Power and Saturday's final friendly of the summer against Genoa.
