Despite the overseas window being shut, Palmeiras have begun shaping mid-2026 business, and Leila Pereira is now leading an attempt to bring Fabinho back to Brazil, according to Nosso Palestra.
The club made an enquiry late in 2025 and were told the former Liverpool midfielder did not want a Brazil return then. Fabinho is contracted to Al-Ittihad until mid-2026 but remains a target.
Any deal is viewed as difficult given the player's current stance and the finances involved, though Palmeiras have drawn up a plan to try to make it viable.
In defence, Nino, formerly of Fluminense and now at Zenit, has a preliminary agreement with Palmeiras. The club plan to advance discussions with the Russian side in the coming months.
The hierarchy anticipate possible exits in the mid-2026 window. Forward Flaco López and midfielder Allan will be targets for European clubs, and a stay for the Argentine after the World Cup is considered unlikely. Should players depart, Abel Ferreira wants replacements to keep the squad's level high.
