The potential title-shaping match between Lens and PSG on Ligue 1 matchday 29 will be shown on beIN Sports, not Ligue 1+.
According to L'Équipe, the game is slated for Saturday 11 April, between Champions League quarter-finals. Because Ligue 1+ already chose PSG v OL for matchday 30 as a pre-season top 10 fixture, beIN automatically takes first pick for the preceding round, so Lens v PSG falls to them.
beIN has not hit its programming caps, which it has criticised and challenged in court before being ordered to pay €15 million in arrears. The broadcaster can show each team no more than eight times per season. So far it has aired PSG six times and Lens five, so it remains within limits.
The exact scheduling still needs confirmation. If the match moves from beIN’s usual Saturday 17:00 slot, the channel could switch windows, having used only three of its six season allowances. However, beIN cannot show the same team on consecutive league matchdays, so PSG v Toulouse and Lille v Lens on matchday 28 are off limits.
The timing is a blow for Ligue 1+. If, in under two months, Lens v PSG still looks like a title decider, the league’s platform loses a showcase and a chance to lure subscribers. With few opportunities to spotlight a one-off match and a near three-month summer pause ahead, hopes of a World Cup boost also faded after beIN outbid it.
