Léo Ortiz has cut short his holiday to report back to Flamengo’s CT Ninho do Urubu, seeking a swift recovery from a right thigh injury sustained in their final match before the World Cup break.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the centre-back took only a few days off, then began following a plan set by the club’s medical department from Tuesday nine at the training ground.
He intends to use the fixture pause to tick off rehabilitation stages as quickly as possible, aiming to be fully fit and pain free ahead of Flamengo’s mid-season camp in Portugal.
The squad started their holidays on 31 May and are due to resume training on 19 June. That left the number three with roughly one week off before turning fully to treatment.
Ortiz suffered the problem early in the meeting with Coritiba, complained of severe pain and was replaced by João Victor.
After departing the Maracanã he underwent tests at a Rio de Janeiro hospital, which confirmed an injury to the area.
