Vitão’s January arrival at Flamengo has stirred internal tension around the centre-back positions. Léo Pereira and Léo Ortiz are understood to feel undervalued compared with the newcomer’s salary.
According to Coluna Do Fla, the pair have been left uncomfortable by the wage gap. Their representatives have denied any discontent when asked.
Pereira and Ortiz earn R$ 650,000 and R$ 600,000 per month. Flamengo announced Vitão on 9 January 2026 for 10.2 million euros, R$ 65.3 million at the time. Almost half of that sum offset Internacional’s debt from the Thiago Maia deal.
Since joining, Vitão has played six matches, all in the Carioca, and registered one assist. Supporters have called for him to start amid the team’s poor defensive form.
With Léo Pereira and Léo Ortiz available, Flamengo face Fluminense on Sunday 08 at 18:00, Brasília time, at the Maracanã, in the State final.
