Flamengo defender Léo Pereira briefly thought Ancelotti was dismissing him from Brazil duty after hearing ciao, a word that sounds like tchau in Portuguese. The centre-back is still adapting to the national set-up, especially the Italian’s language.

"I had not even arrived and he said ciao. In that moment you get very nervous, but he is Italian, so I realised it was just the language. Then he said, 'Pleased to meet you, how was the trip, Léo?' and I said it was great," he told TNT Sports.

Since the start of Brazil’s camp, Carlo Ancelotti has been testing the defender. In the first match of this FIFA window, against France, Pereira started alongside Bremer and played all 90 minutes in a 2-1 defeat.

There could be changes from the France game. Even so, Pereira has a chance of being retained next to Marquinhos, who has recovered from injury.

Brazil face Croatia on Tuesday 31 in Orlando, Florida, the final friendly of the window, with kick-off at 21:30 Brasília time. Rede Globo, SporTV and GETV will broadcast the match.
