Leon Goretzka to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season | OneFootball

Bayern Munich have confirmed Leon Goretzka will leave at the end of the season, when his contract expires. The club said in a statement that they aim to win more trophies together before he goes.

The Germany midfielder, 30, joined in 2018 and is closing an eight-year stint. He is on 292 appearances and 47 goals, and is likely to pass 300 games before departing.

The news followed several days of speculation and was formalised on Friday via the club’s social media channels.

Since arriving, he has won six Bundesliga titles, two German Cups, three German Super Cups and the 2020 Champions League, and appears on course for a seventh league crown this season.

Despite interest from leading clubs, including Atlético Madrid this winter, he chose to remain until the season’s end. After constructive talks, he and Bayern agreed to part in the summer, which he considers the right moment to start a new chapter as a footballer and as a man.
