Flamengo head into Sunday’s Campeonato Carioca final against Fluminense chasing a first trophy of 2026, and the occasion could hand new head coach Leonardo Jardim his maiden title in Brazilian football.
According to Coluna Do Fla, kick-off is 18:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã. Jardim is set for his first match on the touchline.
He took charge of Cruzeiro in February 2025 after Fernando Diniz was sacked, overseeing 55 games with 25 wins, 18 draws and 12 defeats, a 56% return.
Cruzeiro finished third in the Brasileirão, went out in the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Mineiro, and exited the Sudamericana in the group stage.
Flamengo moved quickly for Jardim after sacking Filipe Luís. He signed a two-year contract on Wednesday, running to December 2027, and is now preparing the squad for the final.
