Alejandro Grimaldo has been heavily linked with a move to Atlético Madrid and is said to have given the green light for a transfer to the Spanish capital club.

However, the move will only go through if Atlético Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen can reach an agreement on the transfer fee.

A potential fee of €10-12 million has been reported in Spanish media, but according to Kicker, Leverkusen are demanding at least €30 million for the Spanish left-back.

“It always depends on the market,” Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes told Kicker about Grimaldo’s valuation.

“And the market for left-backs is not easy,” he added.

Negotiations between both clubs are now underway, with Atlético expected to submit an offer below the €30 million threshold but likely above €25 million.

Grimaldo has just one year left on his contract with Die Werkself.
