Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah wants a move to Bayern Munich this summer despite late interest from the Premier League and Saudi Pro League.

Tah has just a year remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga champions and Leverkusen have reluctantly accepted that an exit is inevitable.

Bayern have made the signing of the Germany international a focus for the summer window, though a disparity between the teams in their valuation of the player has seen negotiations stall.

Talks are ongoing between the clubs, though interest in Tah from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia could complicate Bayern’s pursuit should superior bids arrive. However, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tah’s priority remains a move to the Allianz Arena.

The 28-year-old has made 353 appearances for Leverkusen since joining the club from Hamburg in 2015. He was a key part of the German side’s maiden Bundesliga title success in 2023-24, as Xabi Alonso’s side won the league without losing a game.

Tah was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season and is currently representing Germany at this summer’s European Championship.

However, the defender will miss the Round of 16 clash with Denmark through suspension, after picking up his second booking of Euro 2024 in the draw with Switzerland on Sunday.
