Lewis-Skelly Names the Two Arsenal Stars Guiding His Standout Season

Myles Lewis-Skelly has been on an upward trajectory ever since making his Arsenal debut, and now the youngster has credited two players in particular for helping him in the early stages of a burgeoning career.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough 2024-25 campaign with the Gunners, establishing himself as an undisputed starter in the second half of the season. Characterised by an intense work rate and a never-say-die attitude on the pitch, the youngster quickly endeared himself to the Arsenal faithful.

From his iconic celebration against Erling Haaland and Manchester City to his exceptional displays against Real Madrid, the midfielder certainly had a season to remember. He has surely been buoyed by a world-class support system in north London, and in a recent interview, he singled out two players who have been a massive help to him in the Arsenal squad.

Saka and Rice shaping Arsenal’s next star

Speaking to GQ Magazine, Lewis-Skelly named Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice as key figures in his development.

“I’ll definitely say Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka definitely. Dec is a sensational leader, someone who knows what to say at the right moment every time. Bukayo had a similar journey to mine, so I’ve been asking him a lot of questions about how it’s been for him and what helped him,” he said.

When asked whether he is close to Saka, he added: “Yeah, really close. We talk a lot, and he is honest with me and explains how he feels about how I perform on the pitch or about a certain play, and I can understand it so much quicker coming from him.”

Big season ahead for Lewis-Skelly

The youngster will look to continue his rise when the new season begins. He featured in every pre-season game of the tour of Asia and is expected to play a prominent role in the final two friendlies of pre-season.

With Riccardo Calafiori facing injury concerns, the Gunners may rely heavily on Lewis-Skelly’s energy and adaptability as they prepare for a challenging start to the campaign.
