Enzo Fernandez’s return to the Chelsea team ended prematurely as he signalled to be replaced late on
Liam Rosenior is hoping the problem that forced Enzo Fernandez off against Manchester United was just cramp but has admitted Estevao was in tears at half-time over a hamstring injury.
Estevao tweaked his hamstring while through on goal in the first half and although he got his shot away, he needed to be substituted in the 15th minute.
After Alejandro Garnacho came on at Stamford Bridge in his place, Estevao headed straight down the tunnel.
Matheus Cunha scored the only goal of the game to pile the pressure on Liam Rosenior and leave Chelsea facing an even tougher task to qualify for the Champions League.
The Blues lost Joao Pedro to a thigh injury in the lead-up to the game and were unfortunate that Estevao and Fernandez had to go off over the course of the 1-0 home defeat to United.
With the trip to Brighton fast approaching on Tuesday, Rosenior was asked after the game about the nature of the problem that saw Fernandez replaced by Romeo Lavia on 88 minutes.
“I just saw him in the dressing room,” he said after the game. “I think it was his calf. I'm hoping it's cramp.
“He's getting work on it right now because we want him obviously fit for Tuesday. I think the fact that he ran himself into the ground for the club tonight and I expect nothing different from a man of his stature and his quality.”

Rosenior then gave the latest on Estevao, who looked in some discomfort when he pulled up and then was aided off the pitch by two members of Chelsea club staff.
“Yeah, he was devastated,” Rosenior admitted. “He was crying at half-time. Really devastated for him.
“It looks like it's his hamstring. And that's a moment, actually, when he's running through on their goal for a one-v-one and pulls his hamstring in that moment.
“They're good lads, I have to say. They're honest, they're working hard. I don't want them to feel like everything's against them. And I hope Este comes back sooner rather than later.”
