Real Sociedad tightened their grip on third place with a 2-0 victory over Sevilla on match-day 16 of the 2025/26 Liga F season. Elsewhere, Atlético Madrid’s poor form continued with a narrow home defeat to Espanyol.
Here’s how the latest round of Liga F results unfolded.
Real Sociedad extended their unbeaten run to four competitive matches with a successful away outing against Sevilla. The visitors had to wait until just after the hour mark to break the deadlock. Sevilla goalkeeper Esther Sullastres was left to rue her luck after she dived to her right to stop a shot, only for it to hit the post and go in off her left boot.
La Real sealed the win with just under 20 minutes to play, as Nerea Eizagirre fired in off the post after meeting Aiara Agirrezabala’s driven cross. The third-placed side are now six points clear of Costa Adeje Tenerife in fourth spot.
Atlético Madrid have now gone six Liga F games without a win following a 1-0 loss to Espanyol. Anna Torrodà netted the game’s only goal in the early stages of the second period. The Espanyol midfielder fired her free-kick over the wall and past the unmoved Anna Torrodà. The well-struck effort condemned Atleti to their second home league defeat of the season. As a result, they are in fifth spot and eight points adrift of the European qualification spots.
Barcelona started 2026 with a 12-1 thrashing of Madrid CFF and a 5-0 triumph against Atlético Madrid. With that in mind, the Liga F leaders may have been slightly underwhelmed by the margin of their 2-0 away win over relegation-threatened Alhama, even with a much-changed side.
Clàudia Pina steered home her 14th league goal of the season after collecting a deep corner midway through the first period. Barcelona took full advantage of another corner in the 72nd minute when Sydney Schertenleib cleverly kept the ball in play for Caroline Graham Hansen to double the visitors’ advantage.
Despite falling to an eighth consecutive league defeat, Alhama would have taken some positives from their battling display, which saw goalkeeper Soledad Belotto make six stops to keep the scoreline respectable.
Second-placed Real Madrid remain 10 points behind Barcelona after they claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over Levante. Athenea del Castillo played a starring role with an early brace. The winger thumped her first in off the underside of the crossbar before she guided her second in at the near post. To Levante’s credit, they reduced the deficit just after the 30-minute mark when Dolores Silva lashed a fierce shot past the outstretched Misa. Levante threatened to level the scoreline, but Las Blancas ultimately held on to their narrow lead to complete a league double over their hosts.
Paola Hernández scored the only goal of the first half in Costa Adeje Tenerife’s home game against Athletic Club. The hosts moved through the gears with four second half goals, including two in stoppage time. Elba Vergés and Aleksandra Zaremba both got on the scoresheet before Violeta Quiles provided two assists for Koko and Iratxe Pérez’s late efforts.
Meanwhile, José Luis Sánchez Vera started his tenure as Madrid CFF boss with a 3-1 away victory over Eibar. Carmen Álvarez produced a composed lob to give Eibar a slender lead at the half-time interval. That lead was cancelled out when half-time substitute Emilie Nautnes knocked the ball in off the post within four minutes of the restart. Kamilla Melgård then conjured up a stunning strike from distance to turn the game in the visitors’ favour, before Nautnes grabbed her second to wrap up all three points.
Irina Uribe’s second-minute effort proved decisive in Badalona’s home clash with Deportivo La Coruña. Inês Pereira raced out of her box in a bid to clear the danger, only to lose out to Uribe, who rolled the ball into the empty net to score her first Liga F goal of the season.
Like Badalona, Granada required one goal to see off DUX Logroño at the weekend. Laura Pérez was presented with the chance to go to the spot after the referee ruled the attacker had been fouled in the box. Pérez kept her composure to drill her penalty into the bottom corner, sealing her side’s first home win in Liga F since September.
Deportivo La Coruña’s poor away form continued with a narrow defeat to Badalona. In fact, they have the league’s worst away record with just one point from eight road trips.
For us, Melgård’s long-range strike pips Torrodà’s free-kick for the best goal of the weekend. The Norwegian chased onto a long ball before she created the angle to send an unstoppable shot out of Laura Martí’s reach.
Granada 1-0 DUX Logroño
Levante 1-2 Real Madrid
Atlético Madrid 0-1 Espanyol
Eibar 1-3 Madrid CFF
Costa Adeje Tenerife 5-0 Athletic Club
Badalona 1-0 Deportivo La Coruña
Alhama 0-2 Barcelona
Sevilla 0-2 Real Sociedad
