Michael Olise has been impressing at FC Bayern and recently made his mark at the World Cup as well. No wonder Real Madrid has its eye on the Frenchman. Now a club legend is weighing in—and singing his praises.
This summer, the Munich club likely won’t have to worry about losing their star forward. Whether that will remain the case in the long term, however, is another matter entirely. Real Madrid is considered the biggest threat—and reports are now coming out of the Spanish capital that are likely to be met with mixed feelings at Säbener Straße.
A former star of Los Blancos is already beating the drum for the 24-year-old with club boss Florentino Pérez. Claude Makélélé, a former Real Madrid player and proven expert on French soccer, says he has already personally brought the winger to the club president’s attention.
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper Marca, Makélélé left no doubt about his opinion: “Michael Olise to Real Madrid? I’d support it. I had the opportunity to speak with Florentino Pérez, and I told him that if he can only spend his money on one player, it has to be [Olise].”
The former French national team player explains his reasoning right away. For him, Olise embodies a style of play that inspires: “Olise brings back the joy of watching soccer, the feeling we had as kids: talent, freedom, quality, efficiency. When he’s not on the field, you feel his absence.”
In his praise, Makélélé even dared to compare him to one of the best players of all time: “When he’s on the field, just like with Messi, you get the feeling that he’s going to do something no one expects. Look at Dembélé, Mbappé, and Barcola: they know he [Olise] can play the ball into a space that other players don’t even see. That’s the modern soccer we love, the soccer that makes fans dream,” he gushed.

The reason for the excitement is Olise’s current form. After a strong season with Bayern, the attacking player also shone at the World Cup in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Alongside Mbappé, Messi, Kane, and Haaland, he was among the biggest names in the tournament—especially as a playmaker: In the first six games alone, he set up five goals.
There has been no concrete offer or negotiations from Madrid so far. For FC Bayern, Olise thus remains a key player—even if the Real Madrid legend is already working hard to sway Pérez in favor of a possible transfer.
