In the last few weeks, there has been a number of transfer rumours concerning Inter defender Benjamin Pavard.

One of the clubs reportedly targeting the 29-year-old is Lille. This would be a return home for Pavard, who came through the club’s youth ranks.

However, it is no secret that Lille would not have the same kinds of financial resources as some of their rivals for Pavard’s signature, such as Galatasaray or Neom.

Lille’s Sporting Director Olivier Letang stated openly that “I called Benjamin.”

“We discussed it,” the executive added.

“But it would be a transfer that we couldn’t afford. Some things are possible, others aren’t.”

Letang said that bringing back Pavard “would be fantastic” for Lille.

“And I told him that I’d love for him to come back some day. But there are financial considerations, and it would be impossible for us today.”
