Lionel Scaloni calls up Benfica pair for Argentina’s Guatemala friendly | OneFootball

Lionel Scaloni has called Benfica pair Nicolás Otamendi and Gianluca Prestianni for Argentina’s friendly with Guatemala on 31 March.

The federation announced a 28-player list for the world champions, with the game to be staged at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires.

The fixture follows the cancellation of the Finalissima against European champions Spain, which had been set for 27 March in Doha, Qatar.

It will be Argentina’s final test before the World Cup squad is named for the 2026 tournament, which runs from 11 June to 19 July. They are in Group J with Algeria, Austria and Jordan, a debutant.

Otamendi, who interests River Plate, is a mainstay and ranks fifth on Argentina’s all-time appearances list with 129 caps and seven goals.

Prestianni made his senior debut in November 2025 in a 2-0 friendly win over Angola. Otamendi’s place at the tournament is virtually assured, while Prestianni is competing for a spot.
