Hugo Ekitike Seals Liverpool Move as Arne Slot Adds to His Arsenal

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of French forward Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, marking a major summer addition to Arne Slot’s Premier League-winning side. After a decisive campaign that saw Liverpool reclaim the league title under their new manager, Slot continues to shape a squad fit for both domestic defence and Champions League ambition.

Ekitike Arrival Signals Clear Intent

At just 23 years old, Hugo Ekitike arrives with a growing reputation and an impressive record in the Bundesliga. Liverpool turned to the France youth international after failing to make headway in their pursuit of Newcastle’s Alexander Isak. With the Isak trail cold, attention swiftly shifted to Ekitike, who quickly became the club’s priority.

Ekitike travelled to the UK alongside his agent, Karl Mwalako, on Tuesday morning to undergo a medical. Having successfully completed that process, the club announced the deal was done.

“Liverpool FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, subject to international clearance,” read the official statement from Liverpool.

“The 23-year-old has successfully completed a medical and agreed personal terms with the Reds, allowing him to fly out to Hong Kong to join his new teammates on their pre-season tour of Asia later this week.

“His squad number will be confirmed later this summer – and supporters can see more content, including a first interview, from Ekitike on Liverpoolfc.com and the club’s official social media channels soon.”

Numbers That Speak for Themselves

Last season, Ekitike scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in all competitions, driving Frankfurt to Champions League qualification. His blend of pace, composure and technical finesse has caught the eye across Europe, and Liverpool will be hoping he adds a new dynamic to their already potent attack.

The Reds are believed to be paying an initial £69 million for the forward, with performance-based clauses potentially raising the total to £79 million. It’s a significant outlay, but one Liverpool evidently feel is justified by both Ekitike’s current output and future potential.

Slot Continues to Reshape His Squad

Ekitike becomes Liverpool’s seventh summer arrival, joining Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman. With Arne Slot clearly intent on building depth and versatility into his squad, Ekitike’s arrival offers both competition and support to the frontline.

The Frenchman is expected to meet up with his new teammates in Hong Kong on Wednesday evening as Liverpool kick off a 10-day pre-season tour that includes fixtures in both Hong Kong and Japan.

For Liverpool supporters, this feels like more than a routine signing. Ekitike is young but already proven, ambitious but grounded, and now carries the responsibility of helping a title-winning side stay at the summit.
