In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Atalanta full-back Marco Palestra, who is currently playing on loan at Cagliari. It is believed that the Reds are showing interest in recruiting the Italian defender in this summer transfer window.
Palestra is having an impressive loan spell in Cagliari in this campaign as he has put in a run of solid performances on the right side of their defence. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net once and picked up four assists in 30 appearances for Atalanta this season across all competitions.
The Italian talent is currently one of the most gifted full-backs in Serie A. Therefore, Liverpool would do well to get a deal done for him this off-season.
However, Palestra has still not proven his worth at the highest level and would need time to adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to snap him up later this year.

Palestra is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Italian talent can shoot the ball well from long range and has got the vision to create some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well. Palestra is primarily a right-back but can also play as a right-sided wide player or as a left-winger if asked to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football.
Palestra would bring more quality and depth to Liverpool‘s backline. He is good enough to serve as a useful member of the Merseyside club’s match-day squad.
At 21, Palestra will only get better with each season. He will also help the Reds challenge across all competitions in the coming years. Therefore, the Reds should focus on stepping up their efforts to acquire his services at the end of this campaign.
