In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey revealed that Liverpool are in talks to recruit Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It has been stated the Reds would have to compete with Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the English talent later this year.

Wharton’s Impressive Form In English Football

Wharton enjoyed a decent run of form at the English club after he produced a series of influential displays for them in the middle of the park. The 22-year-old played in 53 matches for the Eagles last season, netting one goal and grabbing seven assists in the process across all competitions.

The English sensation is currently one of the most talented central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, the Reds would do well to lure him to Anfield in this transfer window.

His current contract at Selhurst Park will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Liverpool to sign him on a cut-price deal this summer.

Will Wharton Be A Good Choice For Liverpool Boss Andoni Iraola?

Wharton is a tough-tackling midfielder who can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and is a good passer as well.

The English talent can also chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team. Wharton is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also serve as a box-to-box midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if told to do so. He has already got some valuable experience in the Premier League and won’t take much time to settle into life at the Merseyside club.

We can expect Wharton to add more bite and steel to Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola’s midfield department. He is good enough to challenge for a regular starting spot at Anfield next season.

At 22, Wharton has got a bright future ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider in the long run. He will also help Liverpool compete across all fronts in the coming years. Hence, Iraola should focus on stepping up his efforts to land him before the end of this transfer window.
